Woodworking

A Journey of Faith, Craft, and Legacy

The holiday season of 2019 marked a turning point in my life. I set out to create meaningful gifts for my sister and a close friend—both of whom loved to entertain. 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗻𝗼 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗜 𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝘇𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗳𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗽𝘂𝗿𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘆𝘀.  Little did I know, this simple act would ignite a passion that would change my path entirely.

As I worked through the process, I found myself not only growing in skill but also in purpose. Over time, my focus shifted from serving trays to heirloom charcuterie boards—𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗮 𝟭𝟵-𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗽 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗚𝗼𝗱 𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

In the beginning, I hesitated to include scripture with each piece, worried about how it might be received. I soon realized that my faith is not something to hide. I am not ashamed of God, and now is as good a time as any to share that.

This journey has been incredibly humbling. 𝗜 𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗽𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗳𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗰𝘆 𝘄𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗶𝗻 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀. As I shape each board, 𝗜 𝗽𝗿𝗮𝘆—𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲. These boards are more than wood; they are heirloom vessels for connection, celebration, and art.

One of the greatest blessings of this work is meeting the people I have prayed for—sometimes before I even knew their names. Hearing their stories, seeing their joy, and witnessing how these pieces become part of their lives is an indescribable gift. More often than not, our meetings end in tears… but the good kind.

𝗜𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗺𝘆𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳, 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗰𝗿𝗮𝗳𝘁𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂’𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗷𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗺 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹, 𝗜 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘆𝗼𝘂. 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗹𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲.

Sincerely,

Kim
